The Gem Players

The Gem Players formed in 1993 and are the official resident theater company of Etowah, TN. Their first production was "Arsenic and Old Lace" and they normally produce a minimum of 5 productions a year. Our primary venue is the historic Gem Theater.

The Gem Players are members of Tennesseans for the Arts, American Association of Community Theaters, Tennessee Theatre Association, and the Etowah Area Chamber of Commerce.

Soldier, Come Home
A Dramatization based on family Civil War letters

Soldier, Come Home is based on the letters of Frank W. Wickes' great-grandparents, Philip and Mary Pringle, family members and friends. The letters were written during the period 1859 to 1865 from western Pennsylvania and from major Civil War battle sites including Antietam, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, the siege of Petersburg and Appomattox. The cast includes:

Mary Poteet as Mary Pringle
James Staton as Philip Pringle
Tim Poteet as Dan Luke ( Mary's brother)
Larry Schiller as Martin Pringle Jr. (Philip's brother)
Bill Freeman as various family and friends
SHOWTIMES: May 18,19, 25, 26 at 7:30 p.m.
May 20 and 27 at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets: Tickets : Adults $10
