The long anticipated reprise of the musical comedy, Smoke on the Mountain, will return to the Gem Theater in March 2012! The Gem stage will be transformed into the sancturary of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasanst, N.C. on a hot Saturday night in 1938. Where you, the audience, become the congregation.

Reverend Oglethorpe has invited the singing Sanders family to perform at Mt. Pleasant after a five year hiatus. They enter with chaotic fanfare after their bus overturns on the way and the play never misses a beat from that moment on! Between music and song each family member shares his individual story and witness.

Smoke on the Mountain consists of almost 30 songs which are a mixture of energetic rousing numbers, plaintive hymns and soulful praise songs. Most of the original cast will be returning and the cast is as follows:
